Studio Faro is a commercial and educational workspace, run by Anita McAdam, that specialises in fashion design and pattern making.

Anita has been active in the fashion industry for over 30 years as a fashion designer, pattern maker, educator and trend forecaster. Originally from Brisbane, she has been fortunate enough to be able to combine the best aspects of her career and run a design studio where she consults with local industry and runs professional development workshops for the passionate fashion geek.

What to bring: Sharp Pencils (HB) or propelling pencil, eraser, glue stick, paper scissors, your best ruler or any favourite pattern making equipment

To remember: Please wear shoes that cover and protect your feet.


Fashion Workshops

Studio Faro will hold a series of hands-on workshops at the show. These workshops are a reflection of Anita’s background and the demands of the fashion industry workroom. Workshops are suitable for all levels, and costs include patterns, material & trims, plus pattern paper.

Saturday– 1pm to 3.30pm  Corset Patterns. During this Studio Class you will use the Studio Faro Corset Block to produce a pattern with design features that may include tucks, fullness and interesting seam lines. There will be several designs to choose from in the course materials.

This class is suitable for students of ALL skill levels.

Sunday – 10am to 12.30pm Jersey Twist Patterns. Using the Studio Faro Basic Knit block, students will learn the pattern manipulation necessary to make a Jersey Twist Top pattern. You will be introduced to Anita’s Knit Block for industry and use it to cut a pattern.
This class is suitable for students that have used commercial patterns and have basic sewing skills.

Sunday1pm to 3.30pm  Fashion Illustrations. Build the tools and skills required to produce industry quality fashion illustrations. Fashion templates are provided for students to practice sketching and rendering colour and texture in a supportive environment. There are demonstrations and practice sessions in the use of different colour and media to create depth, movement and print effects in the illustration.

This class is suitable for students of ALL skill levels.

A Statement of Attainment can be provided by Studio Faro for any teachers present and completing this training.
