Meet your local quilt group
Enjoy a display of work by local patchworkers from the Novocastrian Quilters. The group was established in 1984 and meets at the New Lambton Community Centre. We remain an Association that brings people together with an interest in patchwork and quilting and guests and new members are always welcome.
As a community based association, the group makes quilts for donation to local charities and has raised funds for local Newcastle charities such as Canteen, Calvary Mater Hospital, John Hunter Kids Club, Riding for the Disabled, Breast & Prostate Cancer, the Nicholas Trust, Periwinkles, Harry’s House, Jenny’s Place. The group raffles a quilt each year and this year the proceeds will go to Delta Therapy Dogs.
The Novocastrian Quilters hold an exhibition every second year with the next one happening in November 2018. At group meetings members enjoy their stitching in a social setting and where information, hints and tips are shared and a ‘show and tell’ session is encouraged. Workshops are conducted by local and visiting tutors and all members are welcome. Find out more at the show.
|Quilt Raffle: This lovely Jewel of the Night design by Kerry Swain was made by members and beautifully quilted by Cathy of Lake Edge Quilting. Buy a ticket at the show; proceeds will go to Delta Therapy Dogs, and you could be the lucky winner!|
